PostSubject: Re: Show off your anime merchandise collection!   Tue 25 Dec - 7:13

Hiya everybody

I went Christmas anime shopping yesterday, and came back home with some really cool stuff. Then, I realized it's been some time since I did a little update here of my anime collection.

First of all, I now have over 80 BOUGHT anime Dvd's, and my manga collection crossed the 500 border !

And now, let's head to some pictures ^^

Let's start with the new additions to my Final Fantasy figure collection. I now also have Kadaj, Reno and as you can see on the pic, Cloud. This brings my total of FF figures on 7.

Next, I bought these super cute Final Fantasy II chibi's. They're really adorable, so I couldn't just let them stand there in the shop Very Happy

I also got me a Bleach 2008 calendar. Normally, I don't buy much calendars, but this one really had kick-ass images in it, especially the ones featuring Byakuya, my fav. ^^

Here's the cover

And here's one of the great images inside (randomly picked).

I felt like getting myself something I can wear. This necklace from Naruto seemed like the perfect fit for me. There were several, but Orochimaru's (hope I spelled that correctly) was the coolest in my opinion. I've tried it on yesterday, on my bare chest (yes ! ^^), and I must say that it's super sexy Razz

I'm super fond of figures made by Kotobukiya. They're always of such high quality and detail. So every now and then, I purchace myself a Kotobukiya.
I had already seen this lovely figure of Akira from Togainu no Chi quite some time ago at the shop where I always buy my anime stuff, but never bought it. Yesterday, I couldn't hold back anymore. I HAD to buy Akira !
I know that Togainu No Chi is originally a yaoi game, but I don't care. Razz This figure of Akira is simply toooooooo great for me not to buy it.
Little note: That knife he is holding is really razor sharp, just like a real one 0.0 !!!

Close up

Also, Kotobukiya's boxes are always pure pieces of art. The one Akira was in is the perfect proof.

My love for Kotobukiya figures started when I bought my first Lamento figure, Rai. Meanwhile, I already have 3 Lamento neko's.
The newest addition is Konoe. Just like Rai and Asato, he looks kick-ass, and the nature display is really wonderfull.
What I think is really cute, is the way Konoe has his tail wrapped around that trunk he's sitting on. Too kawaii Razz

Last time, the pictures of Rai and Asato I posted weren't too great. That's why I'm posting new ones. bounce

Rai

Still, Asato remains my absolute favourite one. He's super cool, and I really think Kotobukiya has done a superb job on sculpting him.

Just look at those detailed fangs and realistic eyes !

But what the most kick-ass is, is that you can take off his scarf and shirt. And I must say that the way his body is sculpted really is amazingly realistic. The structure of his muscles are like real.
Just like me, he's one good look'n male Very Happy Razz

Same goes for the way his back is sculpted. AND, they didn't forget his scar. AND it also looks very realistic !

That scar Asato has btw is nearly the same as the scar I have on my back (got it during Samurai training) ! Mine's a bit smaller, but still, it comes pretty close to this.

Of course I have lots more on my wishing list. Here are some of the top things I'd like to get my hands on as soon as they get over here in Europe.

- set of 10 Lamento One Coin Mini Figures (already out in France, but they were out of stock the last time I tried to order them)

- Hero from Persona 3 (by Kotobukiya)

- Byakuya from Bleach

- Gundam 00 figures (One Coin and Gashapon), especially Allelujah

- Gundam 00 HG model kit: Kyrios

And currently the highest on my 'want' list is:

- Sanada Yukimura from Basara 2 (also made by Kotobukiya)

Man, I'm dying to get my hands on that one !

What I'd also like to find in 2008 is the proper stuff to or somebody who could help make a cosplay outfit. I'd love to cosplay Kusuri Uri (the Medicine Seller). I'd also have to find somebody who can do the make-up.

Well, enough of my babbling. Did any of you went for some Christmas anime shopping ? ^^

PostSubject: Re: Show off your anime merchandise collection!   Wed 26 Dec - 11:15

It's been a longgggggggggggggg time since I've last been here. HAHAA.

Nice stuff you've got there, Aya! I especially like the FF figurines (since my friend has been egging me to try out some FF games and raving over the art XD)

Cool! You've got the Bleach Calender! I haven't seen the inside of it much though, not being much of a Bleach fan myself. ._.

The Akira figurine looks magnificent! O-O How I wish Seed RAHs were of this quality too. =-=

Oh! I've seen the OO model kits over here already. It amazes me how fast they're released. I've seen 1/60 Exia model already! It took ages for them to release models from Seed. Guess they're speeding up their production speed for New Year? Hahaa!

I didn't get much anime stuff for my Christmas, apart from the usual magazines and manga. ._.
Well, I did get my Seed scheduler though. Hahaa!

Oh oh! One thing. I finally got down to building my 1/100 Saviour after a year of it sitting in the corner of my room. I shot a couple of pictures of it, so I'll share 'em here. Very Happy

Though it's pretty late, a Merry Christmas to all! Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

PostSubject: Re: Show off your anime merchandise collection!   Wed 2 Jan - 7:14

Yeah, I know. It had been ages too since I posted here Smile

Thanx. I'm very happy with my new things. The FF characters are great indeed, but still I prefer the detail grade of my Kotobukiya figurines. ^^
Hahahahaha. I can image your friend being busy like that. I have one too that is extremely hyped about FF, and would love to kidnap my figurines Razz XD

I wasn't all that of a Bleach fan myself until recently. But since I started reading the manga, I had to admit that it's good.
It's a french calendar, so you'll probably never get to see it over there in Singapore, unless you import it. It's a limited one btw. But I can say that the images inside are really lovely.

Yeah, the Akira figurine is superb. And it looks 1.000 times better in real than on the pics I uploaded. It's really worth the money. Still, Asato remains my most beloved figurine. *pets his tail* Very Happy

How I'd love to see a 00 kit over here, no matter what scale or grade. I just want to get myself a Kyrios, and maybe an Exia as well, Q U I C K L Y bounce Razz
Yeah, it's amazing how fast the kits arrived compared to previous Gundam series. I still see old Gundam Wing kits in stores over here ! I guess that they want every Gundam fan to have a kit asap, so that they don't forget about the series during the summer stop after episode 25.
(urgh ! Why do they have to split the series in 2 parts ?! ><)

Woot ! That Saviour of yours looks kick-ass. Congrats on finally having had the time to put it together. To be honest, my Freedom also had been in a corner for almost a year until I built it. ^^'
I'm happy to see you display your Saviour in its jet-mode, which is its best looking shape in my opinion. ^^

Heheh. That's really cute how you put that image of Sanzo in that frame. Really cool !

PostSubject: Re: Show off your anime merchandise collection!   Thu 3 Jan - 20:19

The moderators should be around more often! XD

Hahaa. True. The FF figurines are inferior to the Kotobukiya in details. And I actually don't much like figurines with joints. But hey, it's FF. XD
Beware of a break-in! HAHAHAA. The games are quite fun, actually. If you're into RPGs.

Oooh, the manga. I hear the anime's worse than the manga, like fillers and all (something like naruto). But I guess that can't be helped, eh? The Producers just want to earn money and prolonging the anime's airtime earns them more. o-o
Over here, we've only got the Japanese ones for import from the stores. I doubt I can get anything from France (since I don't have a credit card to do online transactions. Sad )

You like sexy bodies, that's why. Razz Razz

You can buy one online! Hahaa. HLJ ships world-wide, I think.
The box-arts for the 00 kits are really different from the previous series. But still, it's good if you're a fan. XD
Haha! Kits stay in the stores until they're bought, so it's no surprise that they've still got Wing kits.
Hahaa! How true. They're probably picking a leaf from Code Geass' book and splitting their animes into 2 parts. Maybe to prolong the rave over them? (But I don't really see a lot of Code Geass fans anymore. Hahaa)

Hahaha! I had to, if not my bro would not get me a birthday present this year. Yeap, I like the jet-mode better too. But another thing is that the model seems to have been made for only this mode, since the Saviour seems a bit off-scale in its Gundam form; the legs are longer. Which comes in handy when I have to fold it in like in the jet-mode.
I haven't seen your Freedom yet! Pictures! Very Happy Very Happy

For a moment, I was thinking, 'What Sanzo' 'cause I didn't post any pictures of him up until I noticed the Sanzo picture that got into the photo. Hahaa! Yea, it's a postcard that came with a certain volume of the manga. I have Goku's too! Very Happy

I know. *sigh* But now that it's very busy at work, I can't be as active like I was during summer. Still, I'm doing my best. Razz

The joints are a real pain in the a** when it comes to the way the FF figurines look. Especially Vaan and Cloud suffer a lot from this, since their arms are uncovered. On the other hand, bending them in all sorts of poses is kick-ass. And like you said, who cares. It's FF !
My room is good secured. Very Happy And the house is equiped with an alarm system, so my FF gang is safe. XD

Hurray for RPG's ! bounce I love RPG's. They're fun to play, and at least they have a story to follow, unlike all those racing games, ... (who are fun too, but less).

A lot of anime that are based on a manga series are worse than the manga. Samurai Deeper Kyo is a good example. Compared to the manga, the anime is a real disaster. The anime doesn't even go as far as the end of the manga, and many good scenes are simply left out or reduced to something lame.
Same goes of course for some anime being turned into manga. The Gundam Seed manga was a total flop compared to the series. Whoever thought he could put a 50 episode series in a small 5 volume manga, ... (I'll save that person my bad comment XD).

I think it's because he looks so much like me Razz

I guess I could. But I try to keep paying with a card via the internet to a minimum, since it's not all that safe. There's an expo coming up soon at Lille, and maybe if the guy from the shop where I bought my Freedom last year is there again, he might have some Double 0 kits. *crossing my fingers*
True, but these Wing kits are starting to get oldies. XD
I just find it useless that they split up 00. They risk that the same happens as with Code Geass ... a lot of fans falling in love with an other new series.

Hahahaha. Yeah, that sounds indeed like a good motivation. XD
Really ?! How weard. Razz I guess they were sure most people would display it in jet mode, so they focussed more on it. Or they had to make the legs longer for the jet mode to fit properly.
Yes you have ! The first series of pictures I posted in this topic, there were 3 of my Freedom. Not the best, I admit, but there are pictures ! Very Happy Maybe next time I get the camera out again, I'll take some new ones.

HAHAHAHA ! I guess I should have indeed been more clear when I started about Sanzo. But really, it's cool how you put that postcard in a picture frame. ^^

PostSubject: Re: Show off your anime merchandise collection!   Fri 4 Jan - 20:31

As long as we have your word that you're trying your best, it's all cool. Razz

Yeap. I remembered there was this Lacus doll too. It look great save for the joints. It ruined it all. FF ftw! XD
Hahaa! No chances to those potential burglars then. XD

The fun only lasts for a while for racing games. After you're used to the course, it's kind of like a repetition of previous races.

Ah! Samurai Deeper Kyo! I was going to buy the manga the other day but I couldn't find volume 1 at the bookstore (they only have the subsequent ones Sad ) So I got Gintama instead! It's funny in a queer way. Hahaa.
Gundam Seed manga. HAHAA. I was so turned off by the art I didn't even bother buying it till I got it as a free gift. Razz But The Edge was great, in my opinion. Better than the anime. XD

Ah.. yea, my mom uses that excuse whenever I asked her if I could borrow her card. That's why she'll use a card that has a credit limit if we had no choice but to buy stuff online.
Hahaa! How long does it usually take for kits to reach there?

Yea, exactly. But still, it's Gundam. They have a solid fanbase. Even old fans who claim that Seed is horrible still watches Seed.

I think it's the latter. It looks just fine in jet mode.
Oh! I did! HAHAHAA. Ah yes, and we were talking about model kits then. XD

hahaa. Thanks. I like it too. Too bad they don't have one of Hakkai. I prefer him over the rest. XD

PostSubject: Re: Show off your anime merchandise collection!   Sat 5 Jan - 3:56

Why yes, yes you do have my word. Very Happy Razz

In the September issue of Newtype USA, there's this add for new Buffy the Vampire Slayer figurines. OMG, they make me go sick instantly. The joints are SOOOO ugly ! pale
Nope. My stuff is pretty safe. ^^

And what also a problem is with a lot of these racing games is that when you drive a car in real life, like I, is that most of these games are so annoying. Like with all the impossible situations and the way the cars steer. URGH !
Just give me a good old RPG to play. That makes a lot happier Very Happy

I recently bought volume 36 of SDK. Only two more volumes to go and the series is at its end. Sad (Noooooooooooooo !)
I have the first 3 volumes of Gintama. It's good. A bit crazy, but that's Gintama. Very Happy The anime's really funny !
Hahaha. That's indeed a good way to get them. I bought all five volumes, just because I had to have them as Seed fan. But they're somewhere on the lowest shelf of my manga cupboard, so that says enough.
I heard the Edge is really good. I hope we'll get it over here some day.

That's a good idea of your mom. You never know what might go wrong when you pay with a card online.
There's not really a certain regularity. The Wing ones got here pretty late. The SEED ones arrived when all the DVD's got released, in 2006. In 2007, the Destiny DVD's started getting released, but so far, I haven't seen any Destiny kits.
bounce The 1/60 Kyrios kit looks great. Hmmm ... 1/60 Kyrios *drools*

Yeah, true.

See ! I knew you had seen them. Very Happy

Hakkai. That's the one with the green outfit and glasses, right ?! I've always been a fan of Kougaiji. Must be his pointy ears. Razz

PostSubject: Re: Show off your anime merchandise collection!   Wed 9 Jan - 6:59

XD It seems that even I can't keep coming here often. I'm in the midst of my provisional college now and that takes up most of my time.

I don't buy Newtype USA so I can't comment on the figurines since I haven't seen it, but yea, joints are bad. XD

Yea! It's like when I play Daytona (do you guys have it over there?), the steering wheel turns on its own. I don't think it's supposed to do that, right? That'd be scary and difficult to control.
Oh oh! Also, people seldom use the brakes in racing games. ._.

Ooh. It only has 38 volumes, right? I remember seeing it in the comic shop.
Gintama's totally insane. XD So you've watched the anime? Is the anime better than the manga? I don't really like the manga's art so I was thinking of giving the anime a shot.
Heh heh. The manga doesn't do justice to the anime. Funny, isn't it? Seed is an awesome anime but has a horrible manga adaptation. Destiny was bad but it still managed to produce The Edge, though it isn't the official manga.. (The official one had shit art. XD)
Hahaa! Hope you really do get it there! It IS worth the read Very Happy

No Destiny kits yet? D: Import import! Hahaa. Seems that Seed is more popular, then. XD
Not to be a damper, but I always thought they'd only made 1/60 kits of the main Gundams. Ya'know, those with the white blue red colour scheme. They don't have Justice on the 1/60. T_T

Hahaa! My bad. Razz

Yeap! He's the one! I like him for his voice (Ishida Akira XDXDXD) and also his dark past. Pretty cool. Very Happy
Kougaiji! He'd be my second favourite in Saiyuki! XD Go redheads~ Hahaa.

PostSubject: Re: Show off your anime merchandise collection!   Wed 9 Jan - 13:01

Yeah, I know what you mean. It all depends on having luck with the quantity of work you get (sadly enough).

Praise yourself lucky you haven't seen them. They're like acid for the eye. Really, they give joints a bad reputation (or let's say a worse one).

Haven't played Daytona (yet), but the name sure rings a bell. Does the steering wheel turns on it's own completely (like in turns), or is it just that it moves a bit when you get off the road, like when you end up in the grass border ? If it's the last, then it's normal. A steering wheel always moves a bit when the road's not entirely straight or not in a proper condition.
They don't because the breaks in racing games suck. They never work properly. You either brake not hard enough and crash, or you brake way too hard. Urgh! Same goes for gear boxes. Don't like them either in a game.

Yep, SDK only has 38 volumes. Which is quite impressive.
Yeah, I like the anime a lot more. The artwork is much better, and the totally insane situations are even insaner.
Seed and Destiny indeed suffer from a terrible manga. It's such a shame. I'm surprised how they managed to get the manga so awefull, whereas the anime were great. They should have chosen another, better mangaka, it's that simple.
I hope it too. Very Happy

Seed is indeed more popular. And still not all THAT popular. We have the smaller Destiny action figures, but the kits, no sign of them. Or maybe I haven't searched enough (which'll probably be the case ^^' XD).
That's what I thought too, but in the Newtype USA, there was an article about Double 0, and there were these 2 small pictures of all four Gundams as a 1/60 kit. They were still prototypes, but they sure looked very nice. I do hope that we'll get more than just a 1/60 Exia.

I should've known it was his voice that got you all melting for him. Very Happy XD Hurray for Kougaiji as your second fav one ! Very Happy Indeed, "Go redheads !" (Greenheads too ! "Go Kuro !" XD). Btw, I've got me the Collector's edition of Saiyuki's first season today, as a late Christmas treat. ^^ Next time, I'll buy the second series' box.

Ah well. Not like ranting about it will help. XD

Since we're on Newtype USA, have you heard that they're discontinuing it in Feb? Care to share your thoughts? Very Happy
I personally am not really bothered by it. XD Since Newtype Japan costs cheaper over here so it always makes a better bargain. Hahaa!

It's pretty popular. Very Happy And it's been around for ages. Hahaa. The steering wheel turns on its own all the time. You're basically fighting with it throughout the course. It takes a bit of getting used to before you can actually ace in it. Hahaa. And I've always been using Automatic. I'm lousy in Manual since I've never learnt how to drive yet and I don't know when to change gear. XD
Maybe it's because the machines been used too much that they're kind of defective. Hahaa!

38 volumes is cool. XD But it somehow feels like Naruto will be longer than that. lol.
Cool~! More insane stuff. Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy
Or, they probably busted their budget on model kits, figurines and all sort of merchandises that they don't have enough to hire a better one. XD

Which reminds me that you're Lazy No. 1. Hahaa! Having not searched for the kits at all! Dude! XD
Hahaa! Don't know if you've seen this yet but this just arrived in the mailing list of a certain shop over here. (and to also try to bring this thread back on topic XD)

And while we're at it...

Ugh! Joints again. =-=

Hahaa! Ishida Akira! Very Happy
Kuro! Haven't heard much about him. XD How's he been? Very Happy
A collector's edition? Mind sharing pictures? Very Happy I like Reload more, actually. The art's improved loads. I couldn't really stand Gensomaden with the long faces and droopy eyes.

Sweet ! Looks nice and shiny. The way you like it Wink Very Happy Too bad though it's AsuShinn instead of AsuCaga.

I'll have to make pics too of my new stuff. As well of that Saiyuki collector's edition I talked about last time. I'm going to "TRY" to remember bringing the camera along next week (it's on my desk at work). Rolling Eyes

About Saiyuki ... Kougaiji once again made it onto one of my HI-SPEED Attack (my Eurobeat fan and artist name, remember ? ^^) icons I made.

Yea, I think the manufacturers just want to fool around with us fans. There are 3 kinds of designs for these keychains; Athrun & Shinn, Kira & Yzak, Lacus & Cagalli. They just had to split Athrun and Kira apart, huh. =\

Saiyuki~! If I see you online, I'll pester you endlessly to bring your camera home. Razz

You never told me about your Eurobeat fan and artist name. XD I thought HI Speed Attack was something to do with Strike Freedom. XD
Is there some kind of template you have to follow? o-o I think the colours are a bit clashing against Kougaiji. ^^;;

I really think they should have made Athrun & Cagalli and Kira & Lacus ones instead. Or as you suggest, split ones.

Hahahaha. Yeah, I have no problem believing you would Very Happy It'll probably be by the end of the week that I bring it home. I might have to use it at work one of the following days.

I didn't ?! silent I wrongly thought I had.
XD Something to do with Strike Freedom. Laughing That's a good one.
Well, since you don't seem to know yet, HI-SPEED Attack is the name I have on Eurobeat Beat Boom, an official fanlist that I'm member of.

http://fan.eurobeat-prime.com/members.php?sort=Belgium

It's also the name I use whenever I remix a song. I remix only for sole personal use (with the copyrights and other similar stuff). But even so, I still make covers and avaters for HI-SPEED Attack, just to make it more real and fun for me.

Nope. No template. And I agree that the colours are rather BANG, compared to Ko. But then again, the official Euromach covers are extreme colour explosions too, so that's why I've opted for this sort of clashing cover. Very Happy

It's been ages since I last been here! So I just picked a thread to reply to. Hahaa. *Am in Japan now! XD*

Now, did you bring your camera back home yet?! XD
It really did sound like some SF thing! After all, SF is fast. Hahaa.

You remix songs? DD: I wanna hear em! Very Happy

Come to think of it, remix albums always seems to have bright clashing colours. Hahaa.

Anyway, I bought lots of stuff when I was in Akihabara today *sneaked away from Ikebukuro to Akihabara when I wasn't supposed to. Razz * I'll upload the pictures when I have the time!

It's indeed been a while since ... Sad *hugggggs*
Cool ! "Live report from Japan, brought to you by the charming tanth." Razz XD Heheh, that just flipped out.
How's Japan ? I guess you're having a fantastic time over there.

Nope. I'm doing a photo shoot right now for an invitation card, and then I'll need it to make pics for one of the company magazines, so I'll probably won't take it back home before the end of June.

I guess it does indeed. Very Happy Sounds a bit like the blast from a space cruiser's main canon(s).
But, it's actually based on the Eurobeat label Hi NRG Attack. Although my favourite labels are A Beat C, SCP and Go Go Music Rolling Eyes
Very rarely, but sometimes I also use another alias, next to my HI-SPEED Attack one; Go2Beat.

Yep, I do. But like I said, I don't go spreading them around, because of copyrights (that doesn't mean I can't *whispers* send you one by pm, IF you promise me to keep it for your ears only).

Most of them do indeed. The covers of the Eurobeat Maharaja Night Hi-NRG Revolution (phew, what a name to type ^^') series are quite big colour-explosions too.

Sounds like pics worth the waiting suspence. So, I'll be waiting for them, in suspence. Very Happy XD

Yes, Tanth reporting live from Japan. >D I'm in some small town in the countryside now. It's called Matsumoto, and it's a really really small town. At least there's internet connection. XD
Japan's great so far. Though I can hardly believe this is summer. The average temperature is around 15 celsius. ._. When I see postcards, I was thinking of getting one for you. Just wondering if you'd give me your address for it. XD;;

Nooo! It's been so long since you bought that DVD and yet you have not taken photos of it.
You do photoshoots too? I thought you were a PR manager! PR managers do such stuff too?

What does NRG stand for? o-o

I promise! Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

Indeed. What a long name. That doesn't sound English. ._.

I decided to take some pictures of what I got from Akihabara since my roomie was using my laptop to watch d.gray man just now. And here they are!

First up, doujinshi. XD

Most of them are Asukira, though there are a few Asucaga here and there. Don't get me wrong, I love Asucaga. But the selections were just so limited. There were shelves and shelves of Asukira but only one shelf of Asucaga and a tiny one of Asushinn. ._.

Some merchandise.

Seed handphone straps (I bought Athrun's and Cagalli's), some Gyakuten Saiban (Phoenix Wright) stuff, and an Evangelion badge.

CDs and a game.

The orange range O2 CD is for my bro, the Gyakuten Saiban 4 OST is mine and the Seed PSP game is mine too. XD

2 Yaoi manga by Kazuya Minekura.

Junjou Romantica Manga. XD

There are still some stuff from my trip to Ghibli Museum, but they're all wrapped beautifully in bags, I can't bear to open them yet. Those will have to wait till I get back to Singapore. XD;;

Very Happy Never thought of becoming a live reporter ? ^^
Is that the Matsumoto in the Nagano prefecture ?
15 in summer's indeed not quite a spectacular temperature. It's still spring over here, and we're already having temperatures over 20 (we even had 28 two weeks ago)

Yeah no problem: Edgar Tinelstraat 4, 8930 MENEN, Belgium. But isn't sending a card from Japan to Belgium going to be quite expensive ?! Neutral

I know, I know. But I'd like to take those pics without having to do it in a hurry, so that's why I'm going to wait.
Yep. Next to marketing related work, I'm also doing 3/4th of all the graphics work. And taking pictures is a part of it. Besides, I prefer using self-made pictures when I make the company magazines. That way I know for sure that they have the right quality for print.

NRG stands for Energy Razz

Allrighty then. Just give me a sign as soon as you get home again, and I'll pm you one. Hmmmm, I wonder which one I should send ...

cheers for pictures

When you put the words doujinshi and Gundam Seed in one sentence, I automatically think of AsuKira. It's logic that there are more douji's featuring Athrun X Kira than Athrun X Cagalli. After all, Japan is THE land of shounen-ai and yaoi flavoured douji's.
The cover artwork of the one on the right (from my point of view) looks really nice !

Cool AsuCaga straps !

Bump for Gundam Seed PSP game *drools*. The CD's look cool too. Heheh, and it's funny to see that Klavier's name in Japanese is Garyu (didn't know that).

I see you too always buy a lot of manga when you're out anime shopping. Sometimes I get back home with more than 20.
Must be great to buy manga which normally you can get your hands on later because of export waiting time.

Cool, you visited the Ghibli museum ! Oh no no, please keep them wrapped up until you get home. It'd be a pitty to get those beautiful bags open now and risk them getting damaged.

maybe I should post my modest collection here as well! Very Happy

Aya> Ahahaa. I'm reporting live from Singapore right now. XD Reached home last night. Very Happy

Yeap, that was Matsumoto in the Nagano prefecture. Very Happy
15 celsius was a splendid temperature for us students though. We hardly get to experience such cold temperatures in Singapore, where the lowest we ever got was 24. 28 celsius over here is like rainy weather already. Hahaa.

Well, I couldn't find a post office in the end, so I bought you a card (from Ghibli!) and will be posting it from Singapore. XD;;

Aren't there graphics designer or someone of the sort in your company? ._.
I always thought designing things were cool. Very Happy
Yea, taking your own pictures are better than ripping some off the net or getting someone else to do it. There's no risk of copyright issues. XD

OH. NRG. Hahaa!

Anyway, yeap, I'm back in Singapore. Very Happy Send me one of your better ones then! Very Happy

Well, don't be fooled by the cover art. XD It's not really all good inside. The opposite can be said of the other doujin too. The outside might not look magnificent, but the insides are quite cool. Very Happy
You're so right about the shonen-ai and yaoi! The shop that I went to to buy all those doujins had 2 whole levels (out of 4) of yaoi.

The Gundam Seed PSP game is real fun. Very Happy I've played it with my bro's friend (multi-player) and owned them. XD
Yea, I never knew his name was Garyu too. Hahaa!

I do like to buy manga, but not to the extend like you! 20! Amazing. I never tried that before. Hahaa! I only brought back around 6 manga (excluding doujin) back.

Nay, I got manga which will never reach Singapore shores. We're very conservative here. XD

Aya's a fan of Ghibli too? Very Happy Then you'll be sure to like the card I've got you. Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

Princie> Hahaa! Is it difficult to get merchandise in South Africa?

Yes yes, do share your collection. This thread has been so stagnant with only me and Aya posting most the time.

PostSubject: Re: Show off your anime merchandise collection!   Wed 25 Jun - 13:17

Owkay, here I am with the long long LONG promised pics of my recent anime collection expansion (ok, that sounded ... overacted ^^'). But first, reply to your last post.

Yes, I was right ! bounce That's an extra point on my Japan knowledge grade, lol.
24 the lowest you've got ! Shocked Over here, that's already great summer weather. The coldest I've ever known here was -10 ! Very Happy Wow, talking about some large difference.

I think we can skip the part about the card, ne Very Happy XD

Nope, I'm the only graphics designer at the company. And that's cool, because it kind of makes me a unique species amongst the others. XD Before I arrived there, everything was done by publicity and graphics companies, and I can asure you, they've saved a LOT of money by hiring me.
It is ! Very Happy I love it how you can turn your creativity into something you can watch and touch.
Yep. That, and the fact that you're sure the picture will be the way you want it and the way it fits in the layout you're making. ^^

Very Happy HI-NRG's by the way also a musical term, known in the world of electronic music.

Happens often with normal manga too. You see a cover art that looks really ugly, but when you take a look inside, you're wowed by how good the drawings are. That's the tricky thing when you buy manga or douji's via internet.
That's sure a lot of shonen-ai and yaoi. I think many girls over here would faint by seeing so much. XD

Cool ! We now have our very own professional female Gundam pilot, should I say, our very own Cagali here at the forum. Which Gundam did you pilot, btw ? ^^
It's a funny name actually. Then again, Klavier is too. XD

There are times that I come back with only 5 as well Very Happy Problem over here is that most of the better manga I buy, get released at the same month. So there are months that I nearly buy no manga at all, and then there are months that it really takes me ages before I get passed the store's check out, heheh.

Aya is indeed. Aya especially enjoyed Howl's Moving Castle. Such a lovely movie.

Allrighty, time for the picies ! I hope I haven't made too much spelling mistakes so far. I'm both too tired and too hyped at the same time after yesterday evening/this night. I went raving with a friend, so it was late when I got home. But we had a hell of a time. Luckily I had a day off at work today Very Happy XD
Anyway, the pics ! ^^

Let's start with one of my Saiyuki collector's boxes I promised to show you. This one's from the second season (episodes 26 to 50). I picked out this one because it has better artwork than the other box, but basically, they're the same.

Here's the outer box:

Inside, there's two other 'boxes'. The one on the left features a bonus DVD and a booklet. The one on the right contains the DVD's and folds open:

Little detail pic of the flap featuring Ririn and my beloved Kougaiji. The image where he's holding the crystal ball is my all-time favourite image of him, but you already knew that Smile :

And then we have the inner box folded open. As you can see, it's quite a large and deluxe box. And I have several boxes like that in my collection (Chrno Crusade, Peacemaker Kurogane, Scrapped Princess, ...)

Next, we have my latest bought artbooks. On the left Sousei no Aquarion. Really, amazing printing quality. the colours truly blast into your face when you open the book. On the right my Samurai Deeper Kyo artbook, featuring drawings by the mangaka (no pics from the anime. Actually, the same goes for the Aquarion book):

And the back of both:

These two came in a week ago. On the left we have Saint Beast. It's a rather large book, featuring pictures that accompany the drama radio stories, and some full page images. On the right, my Bakumatsu Kikansetsu Irohanihoheto (what a name to write Very Happy) official TV Guide. Very very lovely artbook, feature gorgeous images, character information/outline pages, and episode description pages featuring tons of screenshots:

And the back of both (Yuda to please you Wink ):

And last but not least my Shounen Onmyouji official TV Guide, also featuring multiple really lovely images. A true pleasure for a die-hard Guren fan like me Razz . As for the rest, it also features the same things as the Bakumatsu book:

Since the back isn't spectacular, I took a pic of one of the spreads inside. Sorry for my finger ruining the pic. XD :

Next in line, my Shiki figurine. I bought him because he's part of a set of two. I already had Akira, so I was like "Why not buy Shiki as well". He's cool, AND, he has a katana ! Very Happy :

And here's a detail of his face and torso. Kotobukiya products are always so nicely crafted. I'll try to remember taking a picture of the lovely box he came in, next time :

Last ones for today, my 1/144 scale Wing Gundam.
I'm dispalying it in its bird mode, because it looks best that way. As you can see, the low price reflects itself in the lack of colour match with the original. BUT, it's fully transformable, and that makes this little Gundam cool anyway :

rear view:

From above, nicely showing the structure of the wings:

From below, showing the typical torso of the Wing:

And since the previous pictures suck so much Very Happy, here's a more artistic one. I've held it in front of the window, so that you get the impression it's flying. And I like the 3/4th silhouette effect. Luckily, my finger's nearly not noticeble:

If you should be wondering, the pictures were taken in my parents bedroom, because it's the most sunny place of the house during the early afternoon.

There's more to come, but I still have to take the pics, and this post is already becoming huge, so the rest will be for another time (still have two more little figurines, my Saint Seiya Myth Cloths and my finished Kyrios kit to show !). So I'd say, stay tuned, already enjoy these pics, and sorry for possible stupid spelling mistakes (my head is still spinning from those glow sticks from yesterday Very Happy XD Very Happy XD)

PostSubject: Re: Show off your anime merchandise collection!   Fri 4 Jul - 11:57

At long last, the photos! And the same can be said of for my post. Razz

Matusmoto Matsumoto. I kind of miss that place; the clean mountain air, tall trees and all. Sad
Summer?! Hahaa! Summer here is like 33-36 degrees! Have you ever experienced such sweltering warm temperatures before? XD Dang, Belgium seems like a nice place now. XD

Whoa, that makes you an invaluable employee of the company! It's great to be the only one who knows; everyone will be dependent on you! Very Happy

You're quite the knowledge book in Electronic Music huh. XD HI-NRG, High Energy~ XD

And here is where scanlations come in useful. We can preview a manga before purchasing it!
Yeap, the place is heaven for fangirls. Fanboys have the fair-share over there too! There are loads of hentai stores. XD It's pretty easy to tell what stuff a shop sells. Just look at the shoppers. It's really quite obvious; one shop would have totally guys and another girls. Whatever happened to girls who read hentai? Hahaa.

Hahaa! It's an honor to be counted in the ranks! I usually pilot the Aegis, it has strong firepower and quite a lot of ammo too. The MA mode is a plus as it's got that gripping thingy Aegis does. And I don't lose a lot of points when, in case, it gets shot down. Justice is so risky to use. XD
Klavier... Indeed it does. But I find him cool all the same! Very Happy

Those publishers do know the perfect time to release their books huh. Hahaa!

Howl's Moving Castle! I love that movie too! Apart from the fact that Kimura Takuya voiced Howl, the story's awesome too. The way they kept the more important elements from the book and changed a bit of the storyline for it to be so angsty and all-so-moving. I love it.

Spelling mistakes? I haven't spotted any, but then again, I'm tired myself too. It's 2a.m over here right now and I woke at 6a.m yesterday. XD

Kougaiji!!! I haven't seen that image of him at the back before. ._. But hey, it's amazing still! Very Happy
And yes, that's a really long line. ._. 7 discs for 25 episodes? Isn't that a bit too much? o-o

Yes, I can tell from the cover of the Aquarion artbook. The colours are really bright. XD

Saint Beast!! <3 And YES! Yuda! He looks so angsty there. XD
Oooh. I usually call it Bakumatsu for short. I have yet to memorise the full name of the anime! Hahaa! I like that blondie with the gun (forgot his name, it was quite a while ago when I watched that anime XD;; ) He looks so suave. <3

I love young Seimei. Good thing you took chose one image with him! Nah, your finger isn't really ruining the picture. It's barely noticeable. Very Happy

Is the Katana 'draw-able'? (Is that such a word in the first place? XD:; )

I thought that image of Wing and the sky was photoshopped! D:

The table-cloth was the first thing I noticed! (It is the table-cloth, right? XD;; ) You took your stuff into your parents' bedroom to take photos of them? Surprised Did they ask you what you were doing there? XD

Hm.. I don't think I've got much to share nowadays, just bought a couple of manga. Oh! I bought this GSD character analysis book. I'll wait till I've accumulated more stuff . XD

PostSubject: Re: Show off your anime merchandise collection!   Wed 30 Jul - 10:02

Yes I know, it's always a long wait to see me post some new pics (damn my busy life).

I can very well imagine that. And the hottest I've ever known was 37 when I visited Rome. The hottest we had over here was 31 or 32 I guess.

It does make me a valuable part of the company stock yes The only problem is that I'm having so much people asking me to make things I'm drowning in work. ^^'

Yeah, well as an electronic music freak, I have to be equipped with a large database in my head. XD

True. That's what I did with Blood+ and Saint Seiya the Lost Canvas. Since I liked the scanlations, I decided to buy both series.
And boys who read yaoi ? XD But it's a fact that you can easily know which store sells what by looking at the type of buyers. Over here the difference isn't really striking, since hentai and yaoi are sold in the same stores (sometimes even on the seinen shelves.

Aegis is a nice suit to pilot, for the reasons you mentioned. It's logic that the 'bigger stuff' like Justice and Freedom are a lot more risky to use. If not, everybody would be piloting only those two Gundams.
Klavier's cool indeed. Fancy hair style ! Too bad he gets to be the victim of yaoi'esque situations so much.

You bet they do. I went anime shopping last week, and I got back home with two bags full of manga ! I was really grabbing one after another at the stores. Very Happy

Ah yes Howl. He's the wet dream of a lot of fangirls. XD I btw have the manga. It's actually 4 manga size books with screenshots from the movie. It's a really nice collectible.

In that case I won't mind any mistakes. To be honest, I've stopped checking for spelling mistakes a while ago. I only check my RPG posts and welcome posts to new members.

You hadn't seen it before ?! I thought I knew for sure I had already posted a screenshot of that scene some time ago. Anyway, yeah, it's an awesome shot of him, ne ?! ^^
That is too much indeed. And, the annoying thing is that you always have this boring LONG intro before the menu appears. So when I want to watch lets say 10 eps in one day, there's almost 20 minutes of useless intro in total to watch

All the full colour images inside the Aquarion artbook are a real blast of bright colours. that's what makes it such a special one to have.

Actually I bought the book solely for the pics featuring Yuda. (and Lucifer) But in the end it turned out to be a great book in general, especially since it tells the entire story.
Well it took me a couple of ages before I could memorize the entire anime name. Oh and the suave blondie with the gun's name is Sakyounosuke Kanna. He's my favourite male Baku character too ! He's absolute class ! There are some really nice pics of him in the book (and a lot of screens)

There are several more great ones featuring young Seimei. I've scanned one, but I'll have to look for it (since my folder got all mixed up after my Acer crashed).

I think that's a rather correct word Very Happy And sadly no, the katana isn't 'draw-able' ^^, unlike with my Rai (Lamento) figurine, where both his katana and dagger are !

Nope. I managed to get that effect by 'toying' a bit with the camera's functions. I'm still, after all this time happy with the result.

Bed-cloth, but it's not as if it's that much of a difference Smile
They never even knew I did. I took those pics when they weren't at home, sneaky me Very Happy

Allrighty, now that this is done, I can move on to posting ... NEW pics and NEW stuff !!!(in a new post though, 'cause this one is getting looooong XD, and I have to leave for training)

PostSubject: Re: Show off your anime merchandise collection!   Wed 30 Jul - 11:48

Finally, here are the long-awaited pics !
Pics were taken in a rather hurry since the camera was running on a nearly flat battery, so they're not the best (but at least they're better than the previous ones).
Pics were taken in our garden. ^^

Let's start with the pic of the box in wich my Shiki figurine came (posted last time). Kotobukiya products always come in really splendid boxes, and this is no exception.

Next comes my Trigun figurine, from the Story Image Figure Ex series. The character's name is Zazie the beast. I'm not a Trigun fan, I didn't even watch the series. I only bought this fig because I like the pose, and I could order it for free with the points I had collected from other orders.
The funny thing is that the figurine is actually smaller than here on this picture. XD

The previous two were 'old' stuff, the next one is a new addition to my collection since last week !
It's a Byakuya (Bleach) action figure (about 18 cm tall). So yes, Byakuya is my fav Bleach character. ^^ I think that's no surprise Very Happy
I was surprised by the good detail level, considered the fact it's an action figure. There are no ugly joints. The only little negative thing is the large Bleach logo on the display foot.
Different poses are possible, and I chose for this one. The katana can be taken out of his hands and placed differently.

Diffrent camera angle I tried out. I really love how it turned out. Too bad this pic is a bit on the darker side compared to the others. It was the last one I could take on Monday because we had a thunder storm heading our way.

I have a Grimmjow trading figurine too, but the pics I took were all blurry, so I'll have to put up an image from the net.

I reckoned, now that I was busy taking pictures, it'd be nice to show some better images of my Freedom kit. A lovely scale 1/100 kit deserves lovely images after all. First up, a rather basic picture, but seen the size, it was the only way to get Freedom on the pic entirely. Never mind the dusty display foot. I forgot to clean it up ^^''''''

For the next picture, I wanted to trie out something different. I took the picture from this low angle to make it look like a pic taken by a war photographer (like Miri was at the beginning of Destiny). Also, this way, you get a really good idea of how impressive the Freedom is.

The fight is over, Freedom is leaving the battlefield ... Very Happy

I'll split up my post in different parts.
